Dr. P.V.S. Rana has over 40 years of experience of practicing high standard of neurological care in various prestigious neurological centers of army medical corps, including Armed Forces Medical College and Army Hospital, Research and Referral, New Delhi after passing DM (Neurology) from Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education & Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh in 1976.

Dr. Rana had an excellent academic career. He was the recipient of University Merit Scholarship while studying MBBS and was awarded the prestigious Lt. Gen Hoon’s and Major General Amir Chad Awards for his research works. He has over 60 publications in National and International journals. His publications have found mention in various books as well. He is the founder member of Indian Academy of Neurology and in recognition of his academic excellence and services as a neurologist, he was awarded Fellowship by Indian Academy of Neurology.

The DM Neurology course is running successfully for the past 3 years. Utmost care is taken to select students with excellent academic records.

The institute is having an ultramodern neurophysiology and an electroencephalography lab. All investigations are being done in this Hospital. Highly specialized investigations when needed are done through memorandum of understanding with Ranbaxy Laboratories with their collection center established near the hospital complex. The center has full radiological support for neuroimaging and vascular studies. The college has developed MoU with other neurological centers of repute for providing specialized training to our DM students and to provide specialized treat- ment to patients of movement disorders and to provide neurosurgical treatment of epilepsy at Sri Chitra Institute of Neurological Sciences at Trivanthapuram, India with its director on its visiting faculty. Reputed Neurologists have agreed to be on its visiting faculty list. Soon it is going to establish the first “STROKE CENTER & EPILEPSY CENTRE WITH 24 HOURS VIDEOMONITORING FACILITIES FOR EPILEPTIC PATIENTS.” It has already started Botox therapy treatment for movement disorder.

Now it is regarded as the first and the best neurology center in the country with referrals from all parts of Nepal including from Kathmandu. The center is highly appreciated for the service it is providing to needy patients suffering from various neurological disorders. Dr. Luis Caplan, Professor of Neurology, Harvard University, USA visited the center and was the chief guest in CME: Update in Neurology and took academic round of the department and interacted with DM students and agreed to guide the students as and when needed.
