The post graduate Department of Orthopaedic surgery & rehabilitation is one of the most vibrant departments of the CMS-Teaching Hospital. It is manned by highly qualified and internationally renowned orthopaedic professors assistant professors. It is the only state of the art orthopaedic trauma unit in mid and mid west region, including the Terai region. The department is widely respected all over Nepal for its quality research, teaching and surgical craftsmanship. Currently the orthopaedic department is providing following super-specialty services.

Besides the above , a separate physiotherapy section equipped with all modern physical therapy equipments e.g. diathermy sonoic massage, interference therapy, digital traction and wax path etc. it is also equipped with sophisticated exercise machines for the whole body.
The Post graduate departemtn of orthopaedics & rehabilitation has embarked on an ambitions plam for basic & applied clinical research in all super specialities e.g orthroscopy & sports injuries, paediatric orthopaedics, spinal surgery and joint replacements. The university of Kathmandu has already sanctioned a recognized seat for the master of surgery degree (M.S. Ortho) seminars, jounal clubs & case presentations for undergraduate students and post graduate trainees. CMS is looking forward to continnous refinement of orthopaedic surgical work, basic research, clinical research, teaching of medical students and health education of the people for creating more awareness about available treatment of orthritis, backache, fractures and deformities.
