About College of Medical Sciences

The International Society for Medical Education Private Limited (ISME) and the Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of Nepal signed an agreement on the 8th day of August 1993 giving birth to the College of Medical Sciences -Nepal at Bharatpur, Chitwan (Dist.) and has undergone a lot of modifications since then providing affordable advanced quality health care services and medical education. The College of Medical Sciences was established under the leadership of Mr. Nagendar K. Pampati, MBA, Founder & Chairman  of ISME Pvt. Ltd. We are now one of the top private medical colleges in Nepal.

8th August 1993 under the pioneer leadership of Mr. Nagender K. Pampati, a young MBA from Boston, USA

To function as an independent Centre of Excellence committed for high quality specialized excellent health care services in the Country and to conduct research on relevant local health problem for the holistic development of community services and medical education.

Infrastructure & Environment

The present physical facilities at the College of Medical Sciences has been created to provide its students the best educational environment in this country, multi-storied spacious technologically advanced well ventilated Lecture Halls, Library, Laboratories, Seminar and Tutorial Rooms, Media Lab with Computer aided Learning Centre which are connected with modern audio visual equipments and CCTVs and all the OPDs, basic, clinical and post doctoral departments are air-conditioned.

Teaching Hospital

A landmark, in the history of CMS was the CMS Teaching Hospital inaugurated by the dynamic present Chairman & CEO Mr. Nagender K. Pampati. This has revolutionized the healthcare scenario in this region with a combination of clinical expertise and advanced diagnostic facilities. The College of Medical Sciences-Teaching Hospital is the focus of the clinical teaching activity of the College. A 1050 bedded facility with the largest ICU & OT Complex in the region with the state of the art equipments. The CMS teaching hospital is a tertiary care facility that provides the trainee with the opportunity to acquire knowledge and skills from the finest doctors in the country.

National & International Collaboration

The college has been coordinating and collaborating with various national teaching Institutions like the B.P.Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan, B.P.Koirala Memorial Cancer Hospital, Bharatpur Govt. hospital of Bharatpur. The college has also liaison with the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh and the Armed Forces Research Institute of Medical Sciences, (AFRIMS) Bangkok, Thailand.

Mr. Nagendar K. Pampati is the chief architect and visionary planner of the 500 bedded College of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital (CMS-TH). With a strong background in management and administration, he has been instrumental in shaping CMS into a premier institution of medical education and healthcare in Nepal.

Driven by a steadfast commitment to excellence, Mr. Pampati has created an environment that attracts distinguished academicians and medical specialists from across the globe. His cheerful and approachable demeanor has fostered collaboration and innovation, bringing together diverse expertise and cultural perspectives to strengthen the academic and clinical fabric of the institution.

Dr V. Natraj Prasad

Our esteemed Founder and Director, Dr. V. Natraj Prasad, is a visionary leader whose lifelong dedication to education, healthcare, and service has left an enduring impact on Nepal’s medical landscape. His remarkable journey began as a bala yogi, training students across the globe at the age of 10,a contribution honored with the prestigious Bharat Mahayoga Ratna Award by the Government of India.

Driven by a deep commitment to affordable and accessible healthcare, he emerged as a pioneering administrator, laying the foundation for the College of Medical Sciences (COMS) in 1993 in Chitwan. COMS was the first institution of its kind endorsed under Nepal’s multi-party democracy and stands as a distinctive public private partnership model, dedicated to decentralizing healthcare and extending high-quality medical services beyond Kathmandu. Today, the college educates over 3,000 students annually, nurturing the next generation of skilled healthcare professionals.

A firm believer in holistic healing, he has championed initiatives integrating wellness with sustainability, including organic farming, green garden therapy, compost making, and environmental stewardship, reaffirming the profound connection between nature, health, and human well-being.

Location & Accessibility

The College of Medical Sciences is located on the Mahendra National Highway, and is called as “The Gateway to Nepal”, affording easy connections to the East, West, North and South of the country by both road and air.


By Land

It is 146 KMs away from Kathmandu and 240 kms away from the Indian town of Gorakhpur (a major railway junction in Uttar Pradesh) and 126 kms from the Indian town of Raxual (a railway junction in Bihar). Other places of approach are from Kakarvitta, Nepal is with proximity to New Jalpaiguri, Siliguri in West Bengal.

By Air

International flights are operated to Kathmandu and one can reach Bharatpur/Narayangarh by domestic flight from Kathmandu which takes 20 minutes time. The Airport has taxi services and can reach Teaching Hospital within 5 minutes to the college.
