    Department of Cardiology

    • Started its work as a separate department from December 2009
    • Headed by Professor G Subramanyam The first one of its kind in the whole Nepal outside Kathmandu valley.
    • The department has started DM Cardiology – a post-doctoral super specialty degree in Cardiology, first time in Nepal, under the Kathmandu University
    • Runs OPD services daily and admits patients in 21-bedded cardiac ward and 8-bedded ICU.
    • Emergency services and interdepartmental consultations – round the clock.
    • Offers all the facilities in Cardiology.
    • Caters the people of Chitwan and neighboring districts, patients do come from all over Nepal and even from India.
    • Number of patients – steadily increasing.
    • In its 1st year of service, department has been making a good progress both in out-patient and in-patient cardiology.
    • In addition to diagnostic and therapeutic arena, the department is regularly imparting academic and CME classes to the internists, medical practitioners and students about the latest developments taking place in the field of Cardiology.
    • Fully equipped Cath lab to be started from October 2010.

    State of the art Cath-Lab services including Coronary angioplasty (PTCA), Coronary Angiography, Peripheral Angiography, Temporary and Permanent Pacemaker Insertion, Pericardiocentesis, Right and Left Heart catheterization.

    2D-Echocardiography,Dobutamine stress Echocardiography, Treadmill Test and 24 hours Holter monitoring.

    Professor G. Subramanyam

    Legendary person Prof. G Subramanyam is a high-class super specialist in the field of cardiology with more than 30 years of teaching experience, producing many DM fellows. He has excellent intervention skills with a lot of experience in research activity and has received many national and international awards as honor. He was the former Vice Chancellor of Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Science (SVIMS), Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, India.

    Associate Professor Guruprasad Sogunuru

    Dr Guruprasad is a versatile and extremely talented cardiologist with national and international recognition for his research activities and lots of publications in his honor.
