Department of General Medicine

The department has a dedicated faculty of Senior Professors for didactic, practical & tutorial training for medical students, following a phased curriculum. 150 beds cumulatively, of the male and female medical wards, provide for clinical training of the students, interns and medical officers.

Strict norms are set for internship training programme and basic competency levels have to be achieved prior to completion in the department. These also include case discussions (Grand rounds), case presentations (Routine rounds), and seminar (powerpoint presentations with LCD projection).

Attendance in outpatient clinics as well as indoor patients is recorded the highest, amidst all other specializations provide for extensive experiences, study of tropical diseases, research and data recording of endemics and epidemics as well as rare syndromes for students, interns and medical officers alike.

9 beds in the well equipped Intensive Care Unit, provides 24 hour care for critically ill patients.

Major medical facilities and clinics run for Diabetes, Hypertension, Asthma, Allergy, GI diseases, Liver, Heart & Kidney diseases. Allied clinics for Dermatology & Psychiatry also have progressive inpatient and outpatient patients and consultants at both the clinics provide for advanced treatments with ultramodern amenities and equipment. Electroconvulsive therapy by Psychiatry is also practiced.
